“How Not to Be Wrong: The Power of Mathematical Thinking”
“The math we learn in school can seem like a dull set of rules, laid down by the ancients and not to be questioned. In How Not to Be Wrong, Jordan Ellenberg shows us how terribly limiting this view is: Math isn’t confined to abstract incidents that never occur in real life, but rather touches everything we do—the whole world is shot through with it.”

The Death and Life of the Great Lakes by Dan Egan
The 2018-2019 Go Big Read book ,"The Death and Life of the Great Lakes" by Dan Egan, covers the changing landscape of the Great Lakes and poses solutions to the problems brought on by invasive species. The book goes over the various invasive species that have now made the Great Lakes their home. Shipping vessels are largely to blame for this ever growing problem. Some of the species include spiny water fleas, fishhook water fleas, bloody red shrimp and the most extreme, the zebra and quagga mussels, which has spread rapidly throughout the lakes. Egan's solutions would require action from the E.P.A. and other legislators along with simple things everyone can do to help our most valuable resource.
Dan Egan is a reporter for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and a two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist with his investigative reporting on the Great Lakes. Egan has spent his life studying the Great Lakes and how they have changed over the years. He is a senior water policy fellow at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
